Roleen is a qualified teacher and also used to write the food column for Sarie magazine and was simultaneously PA to the late editor and poet Izak de Villiers during his days as editor of the magazine. Due to a divorce she started abusing alcohol. She came to MES literally off the streets, down and out and without hope. MES then empowered her to climb her way back up to sustainability by giving her small tasks around the buildings. During her stay at MES she met Leon Herselman, a former officer of the old security police, who also suffered with alcohol addiction. With MES’s help, these two found work in the Hofmeyer district and have been there since January 2010. It was with great pleasure that we arranged their wedding with the help of the Impetus congregation and they were wed on the 24th of December 2009. We still keep regular contact with both of them and wish them the greatest joy in their new life together.
