Activities under Basic Care involve the food security programme that runs six (6) days a week where those in need can get a plate of balanced (high carbohydrates and high protein) food. Our clothing store provides clothes and blankets to the most vulnerable. The daily outreaches to the communities on the streets serve as invitations to beneficiaries to get assistance. At the Help Desk the beneficiaries are screened to determine their needs and immediate interventions such as drafting of CVs, applications for ID documents and booking of shelters are done.

 

Challenge: As MES Cape Town does not have a shelter of its own, other shelters are used. This leads to challenges such as no beds that are available and/or admission criteria that exclude those in need working on the street.
