Spiritual Enrichment (Jhb)
We believe that spiritual enrichment is fundamental in changing the heart of communities. This focus on spiritual enrichment of the community, personnel and clients empowers them to make informed decisions regarding their spirituality and life styles. This focus takes place in the following threefold ways:
MES clients:
Activities in the buildings of MES and Madulammoho involve cell groups as well as room visitations where tenants gain spiritual knowledge and are pastorally served. Applicable themes impact their lives holistically. Involvement with the youth implies leadership development programs as well as Bible clubs where an atmosphere of acceptance is created. Camps and excursions with the youth have a powerful impact on their lives. The patients at our Zaziwe Care Centre are also served in their spiritual needs and this leads to enhanced healing and well-being. Homeless people and other disadvantaged communities are daily cared for and they experience acceptance. By reaching out to these clients, they are empowered in growing holistically.
MES personnel:
The MES personnel are constantly exposed to suffering and a community with desperate needs. In order for the personnel to serve the community and clients they need to be pastorally and spiritually empowered. Implementation of care groups, pastoral care and spiritual enrichment courses supply in this need.
Inner-city community:
The inner-city community is an important focus in the holistic spiritual enrichment. The Hillbrow “Family of churches” plays an important role in the Sunday as well as combined services during the year. The contact with SAPS, and especially their leadership, is a primary focus and assistance is provided in their service to the community. The aim is to bring about a positive change in the moral values of society. The yearly Christmas serenade as well as other campaigns provide opportunities for the community to participate. In this way they become part of the process of changing the heart of communities and are empowered in coping with life.
Bible Clubs
At the different Bible Clubs children are given a safe environment in which they can discover the truths of the Bible through games, arts, sport and stories. Although the Bible forms the purpose of the meeting it also serves as a place for the children to develop their social and inter-personal skills. There are currently 12 Bible Clubs run by our programme in neighboring schools and Madulamoho buildings. About 90 children attend the different Bible Clubs on a weekly basis. These children are taken on outings and hiking trips to give them the opportunity to get away from the city and broaden their horizons.
A2J
This is a group that consists of teenagers from our Bible Clubs that focuses on performing arts. Through dancing, singing and drama they live out their passion and serve the community. The group consists of 20 members.
